What do we think of the Andy Murray phenomenon. Personally I don't like him because of his anti-English rants.

Anyone think he will win Wimbeldon?

FYI, this is what Wikipedia had to say about his national identity.

"Murray identifies himself as "Scottish, but also British".[2][3] Prior to Wimbledon 2006, Murray caused some public debate[15] when he stated that he would like to see "anyone except England" win the 2006 World Cup. He received large amounts of hate mail on his website as a result.[16] Murray subsequently explained that his comments were said in jest in response to provocation from an English reporter who had asked if Murray would be supporting Scotland in the World Cup.[17] The reporter had asked the question in the knowledge that Scotland had not qualified for the tournament. Murray protested that he is "not anti-English and never was"[2] and he expressed disappointment over England's elimination from the 2006 World Cup by Portugal.[18]

In an interview with Gabby Logan for the BBC's Inside Sport programme, Andy said that he was both Scottish and British and was comfortable and happy with his British identity.[19] He said he saw no conflict between the two and was equally proud of them. He tried to appeal to English people to be more supportive of him before Wimbledon 2008 by pointing out that he is 1/4 English, his coach is English and that his girlfriend is English.[20]"

And I think he is in good touch. But I don't think he can lift the trophy. Safin and Tipsaravic could be a threat to Federer. Andy looks like he's just too fragile. But he proved me wrong in his match against Gasquet. Let's see.

But Andy Murry has one of the most beautiful drop shots I've ever seen. Such grace. But he looks fragile at times. I think he doesn't have enough gas in his tank to play a big five set game against a power player like Safin.

He might go in Semi as Rafael Nadal picked injury in last game but Rafael Nadal still stronger then Murry and he won last match easily despite of injury.

I don't think he will win! he is quite an arrogant guy too which a lot of people don't like, especially me! not quite sure why he felt it necessary to ranting about england and the world cup just to get back at an English reporter! but i think it was unjustified and didn't do himself any favours bearing in mind he now wants the english crowd to be behind him at Wimbledon.

At least he's got a hunger to win, unlike Tim Henman.
Ironic that Britain's best player is probably less English then Greg Rusedski
