Do i have to think again before i buy Vista ???

I just now i read : Microsoft says it expects to release its next operating system, Windows 7, sometime in 2009.(Associated Press)

Which confused me about buying Vista....

as Microsoft is planning to stop XP soon : Microsoft Corp. is scheduled to stop selling its Windows XP operating system to retailers and major computer makers Monday, despite protests from a slice of PC users who don't want to be forced into using XP's successor, Vista.(Associated Press)
Its July now, means 6 months to reach 2009, and anytime in 2009 they will introduce Windows 7.

    I am confused ......

    any advice ????

But what makes me happy to keep XP till Windows 7 is : Last week, Microsoft said it would extend technical support for six-year-old Windows XP through 2014, instead of 2009 as planned.

Well, what are your PC specifications ?
Windows Vista requires a quite more than Windows XP to run properly.

Its just a matter of getting used to Vista. Initially I found Vista really irritating and infact downgraded one of my comps which came preloaded with Vista. Later on when my comp crashed and I had to use my notebook, I slowly got used to Vista and despite the glitches and it being a bit slow, overall its pretty ok.

I actually use Vista unlike many others. have for a year now, and have zero problems. i love it and it works better than XP ever did for me.

Just make sure you have a system that was designed for vista.

Alot of people here try to put Vista on some old crappy computer, and then blame vista when it doesnt work.

strongly second that! You never know when MS might abandon Vista once it's new OS comes out. (Don't bank on it coming out before 2010 though!)

Yeah Vista works well on a good machine, but you will have many incompatibilities on an old PC, or when you will try to use specific peripherals. Is better to stick to XP as far we have this option :)Anyway soon you will no found any drivers for XP for a new PC........so will be forced to switch

if you have a great machine that can handle it with lots of ram, then you shouldnt have anything to worry about

Windows 7 is not going to come sooner.
Dont rely on 2009. It'll still take some more years for vienna to come in market full-fledged.

It doesnt make sense either for them(MS) to launch a new OS (which is kindof based on entirely new base) in two years.

They would give some time for their launched product (vista) sold.

If it weren't for the problem with my wireless adapter I would definitely use Vista, so it's up to you to see which suits your needs best.
