I currently have a blog set up on the following path http://www.domain.com/blog the page on the main domain.com is just sat there doing nothing and needs something doing to it.

Would there be any issue installing wordpress on it and running a second blog on the domain? Are there any advangates to this or any downsides anyone can think of?

Sure its possible. And the only downside I can think of is that if people visit one of your blogs, if it is not interesting, they will not be inclined to visit the other one.

yes you can set up second wordpress on your domain.

i agree with zelzade. i think you should set up blog which is more important for you on domain.com and second on domain.com/blog

It's the same as any other script. You can even setup three if you wanted to. domain, /blog1, blog2, etc.

However, as zeldaze said, if people aren't interested in one of your blogs, it is highly likely that they won't even bother to visit the other one.

The thing is I post a lot of paid reviews to my current blog and wanted one without all that rubbish in which people might be more inclined to read. I'll have another think and see what I can coem up with the the root domain.

I'd leave the root as your main landing page for your domain (no blog). I'd have links to the multiple subdomain blogs from there.

It is possible as noted above. But two blogs on the same domain can lead to confusion on your part and the readers part. I know I might post to one blog what was meant for the other and vice vesa.

Have your main blog on the homepage- yourdomain.com and your paid reviews on the yourdomain.com/blog. Personally if that is what you are doing there is nothing wrong with that. In your blog roll just place a link calling it reviews or something to the liking that SEO and SE wont frown on it.

That sounds good. Just done another review and its sort of jsut sat in between 2 web design posts so looks well out of place.
