$50 Design Contest (uncoded)

Need a one-page design for HomeCookRecipe.net.

The site navigation will be top horizontal nav, and have a right hand side bar.

I need the design to be able to incorporate a flash slide show (350x250). For an idea of how I would like the flash slide show to display, see: http://www.nilarian.com/ (I am not asking for flash, I just need the design of the to have room for the slide show).

Currently, this is a blog that posts random recipes. However, the new site will allow people that travel to enter in their favorite recipes from the different places they visit.

Some might be wondering why crawm1 is doing this contest, when I was the one that held the logo contest for this site. Crawm1 is the client for HomeCookRecipes.net and you will get feedback quicker when you take out the middle man (me ). With that said, both crawm1 and I will be deciding the winning design together so keep an eye out for my feedback, also. Feel free to PM if you have any questions.

@badmasketa: Thanks! Crawm1 does have HomeCookRecipe.net, but he doesn't have it redirected yet.
@b4db0y: No, we don't want the sidebar to be the same as the current site.

 

okay, I may enter if I have time. what do you want the links in the top nav bar to say?

 

@JMP Designs: The sidebar is too narrow, and the top nav needs to go all the way across the top. We don't want the design to have the same layout as nilarian.com, just has leave room for a similar slide show.

@alanimation: Go ahead and just put filler text for the nav. right now. It will all change once we have it coded.

 

@JMP Designs: Thanks for your changes. Two more changes, first, the square box is too big. We need to have it 350x250. Secondly, could you add a search bar in the header. Other than that your changes look good.

@badmasketa: Really like your design. A few changes suggested. First, the graphic you have next to the logo needs to fit the color scheme of the header. Is it possible to see two versions of this graphic? The first graphic would show two shades of green, and the second graphic would show a shade of green, and a shade of orange. Mightybutton and I are divided on what would look best and this would help to see. Also, this will be the main blog page so, everything under the flash slideshow needs to be formatted like a blog. Finally, could you push the search bar down to be closer to the navigation bar and change the color of the search arrow box to an orange or green (to match the header)?
