You blog what you want to blog about . You do not necessarily post about global warming and expect everyone to start caring from the very next day after reading your post . But i do read multiple posts here and after a long and tiresome 7-8 months on this section of this site , i have found the time to write something i believe is constructive and helpful . I will not attempt to preach the non-preachables , but I am in hope that this post will help those who are open to understanding . http://www.phpcafe.net/blog/2008/06/29/10-things-satisfy-dmoz-editor/
Sure.... There are compliant sites but are not listed. Websites that are more relevant and have good content. Only because they are the "enemies". Anyway it does good without that listing and readers know that category is full of anchor text from titles to descriptions. Ahhh whatever. Cest la vie.
Nice information, but I won't bother to go out of the way to satisfy an editor, if they like my site and include it, thats good, if they don't it is fine too. This is a democratic world.
True. Some regional categories dont even update and they call themselves hobbyist, comprehensive, republic for information. Here is an attraction example.
ooh yeah , i agree "Satisfy" is not the PC word to use . But i know lots of people who think using that word .
Seriously, just satisfy the guidelines and that's all you really can do. Either an editor has time to update a category and happens to see your site or one doesn't. Besides as Popo will tell you, a dmoz listing is really not that valuable for marketing purposes.
here's where many people who post here are wrong . When an editor posts here or elsewhere about DMOZ - believe you me , it is not an advertisement , nor seeking anyone to submit to DMOZ , nor trying to popularize the website . Believe me when i say , that is a site that does not require even 0.00001% of XYZ's attention to be important . Hence, whether popo will tell you if dmoz is important or not for marketing or elsewise is not important . What is important is any one seeking info or complaining should at least be educated or considerate enough about the points I ( any other editor ) have tried to express here . We do not expect you to submit sites you don't feel the need to , BUT if you do , at least try to help us help you .
I still believe that dmoz is important. No where can you get such a high pr for free. I agree also the the guidelines are there for a reason. Following them would be one's best bet I would believe.
