Hi all, I am interested in setting up some Adsense for my site but I first wish to get the support/opinions from other people. My first question is should I get Adsense? At the moment I have no ad system at all and basically no money making possiblities from my blog, so I would like to put something on it, but is Adsense the way to go? Maybe a mixture between two companies? My second question is what types of ads (Graphics/texts/skyscrapers etc.) should I place and where? I am rather new to the ad world and I am not sure what positions my ads should be placed in. Above the first post? In between some posts on the front page? Sidebar? I really wouldn't have a clue. The link to my blog is in my sig and any help will SURELY be appreciated. Thanks a lot!
It all depends on the amount of traffic you are able to generate to your site. If your only getting 100-200 unique's a day its not really worth it, at least for me. It depends if your willing to wait six months to get paid. I believe Google requires 100$ before payout. It's the most widely used ad system out there, although many find Yahoo to be better. Personally I use Adsense as a default network through RMX. It all depends on the amount of traffic. Good luck.
Personally, I don't build adsense only sites anymore. I am concentrating on sites that earn from an affiliate product or my own and maybe have Adsense as an option for people who don't go for my main offer. Gregg
If you are getting good enough traffic at your blog then Adsense is good for that. You can apply for adsense and after getting approved you can use their 250x250 box ad at your right side navigation IMO. DON.
AdSense is a great residual income maker for sites and blogs but I would not recommend you to rely upon it solely to make some money. Place AdSense ads on your site but go for other money making options to get some real income. Good luck!
You can use more than one ad company. With Adsense I would avoid skyscrapers and banners. They just don't seem to work that well! A Rectangle blended to the colours of your website should net the best results! I put my Adsense ads at the top of the page where they are highly visible. I have one in the sidebar at the top of the page too! Best of luck, Dave.
Thanks for all the tips. I know that I should wait for more visits, but at the moment I am not interested in the money but instead setting it up. So I am still deciding if I should set it up and save me the trouble later or if I should wait it out. Either way, of course I am not expecting to make a living of this.
