Help with getting in touch with a domain's owner

Ok here's my situation - I'm starting a new project with a friend, and there's a specific .com we'd like to get (the actual name of the domain is not really important). The domain has been registered for a while, but it's just a parked page with Sponsored Listings and a link to a contact form to "inquiry about this domain".

    1. So, I tried the contact form, over 3 weeks, still no response.
    2. Then, I searched the whois, it looks like some kind of private registration, but there was a gmail email, so I tried this, over 2 weeks, still no response.
    3. I then contacted the registrar/host, and talked to one of their customer support person, but blablabla he could only give me the same gmail email.

So this is where I'm at. We'd really like to get this domain, so do any of you guys have suggestions as to what I could try next?

I feel like I hit a wall and can only pray and wait for the owner to reply, but it doesn't look likely.

try domain tools broker- no win no fee, but you have to offer at least 1000$

i have tried them - unsuccessfully, but it's only one i know who would work for free and no charges will be made, in case you wont get a result

i am curious as to how much you want to pay for this domain??

considering the guy reg the name he thinks it has value so i am sure its not 50.00

welcome to what i call the world of domain polluters, people who buy names with no intent to ever put a site on it and then how someone like you comes around with lots of money to buy it.

do the contact form everyday until you get a reply. there is nothing else you can do other than in the whois screen check the nameserver or other sites owned by that owner and then goto those sites looking for a contact page

Welcome to what I call people who missed the boat and complain. Why do you get to decide what is 'use' and what isnt?

Also, if you need help feel free to PM me the name and tell me what sort of budget you were thinking and I may be able to contact the owner on your behalf if it seems like a reasonable offer and I know them.

@ 7point4: Don't think it's necessary to use a broker, maybe as a last resort.

@ pluto459: Ah, I hadn't thought about the nameservers, thanks! I was able to find which company they use for the parked pages, so I contacted that company, we'll see what they say. And yeah, I guess that by using the gmail email, I can try to find other sites owned by them and try to get at them like that.

@ kohashi: Thanks for the offer, but I'd rather deal with the owner(s) directly, without a third party. Plus, I'm sure you understand why I wouldn't want to reveal the domain.

those are the words of a polluter lol

Please dont confuse stating with hating.

when you buy the name and park it instantly and 2 years later there is still no site thats a polluter.

i own over 200 names with a site in mind for them all, never once did i but one just to hold ransom.

didnt mean to hijack your thread allkindz but i have a special place in my heart for polluters.

$1000 is really not cheap, not anyone can afford it.

well it's the average minimum for which professional* domainer would engage in communications with the end-user

thats the actually reason, i assume, why the owner ignores allkindz's "inquiries"

I doubt it, since I never mentioned budget or price in my inquiries. I don't think price will be a problem, I have an idea of how this all works, and my friend and I realize how costly it might be to get it and we're okay with that. My problem is just getting in touch with them at the moment

Anyway, thank you all for the suggestions! I'll keep at it and update this thread once I own the domain. :)

Those are the words of a jealous forum poster who missed the boat and thinks everyone who caught it are evil. Ransom? That implies they weren't legally obtained. If I sell my car on eBay is that ransom too? Get over yourself.

allkindz: my offer still stands, you can let me know the owner's info if you want (copy a whois without specific domain info) and I can see if I can tell you how to contact them. I am not out to get your domain name, I really don't care; if i wanted the domain i would have already contacted the owner. I go on vacation for 6 weeks and travel around the world in 36 hours, I am trying to help you here and even $1000 is nothing if it's truly a good domain. The biggest guys it isn't worth their time to even consider offers 5-6 figures because of opportunity cost. So, want to know if you're barking up the wrong tree and will never get a response?
