Hello All! I managed to get my nonprofit site in the number one position after its launch in late December for the word phrase "world cause". Its been number on since about February. I did nothing to promote the small scale site as far as SEO. The homepage is nothing but flash. There are no meta tags etc. The links are non descriptive domain/node/# Can anyone explain this?
Are you getting any traffic from that? I can't see that as a search term that's looked for much. When I searched for it,I couldn't see anything that matched your description of your site, and the sites that were at the top looked like accidental long-tails.
Yeah, it's pretty much impossible to rank for that keyword with just flash unless you have thousands of links.
Hi, The keyword "world cause" don't seems to have any searches at all, how much traffic you get from it? I just think that no one even trying to get high on this key because of that.
well, if he ranks #1 on the search term "world cause", go to google, and search for "world cause" his site should be #1... lol http://worldcauseonline.org/
you have the only site that has the keywords in the doamain,at least in the first 5 pages. keywords in the doamain is the strongest thing for seo in google. for non competitive keywords, that may be all it takes to be #1.
Simple: Keyword in the domain - Non competitive keyword and you are The only one who wants to rank on it
You're the only site in the query having the word "world cause" in both url and title, that's a big point.
that plus a couple of links from the site builder etc. flash sites will happily rank for page title and / or domain name, just nothing else.
this is because you have the word in your domain..i assume your site is www.worldcauseonline.org. and actual people competing for this keyword is none...plus u got a linkback from http://boston2008.drupalcon.org/showcase/world-cause-online.
Ya. people think competition meant the millions of other pages in the results. HAHAHA. Reason for ranking. Keyword in title, backlinks.
hi keyword in the domain name is strong thing for SEO, e.g. k/w name - world cause in domain - http://worldcauseonline.org/
Thanks for all the input, I searched again, it is number one on google and yahoo. The site is worldcauseonline[dot]org Interesting...I don't have thousands of links at all. It was number one before the drupal back link, but it think it is as all of you have pointed out the lack of competition for the word more than anything. It was just a but shocking to me.
No one searches for "world cause" - (it has daily search volume of 0) so the it's very easy to rank for a non-competitive keyword when your domain name has the keywords. I have a site that ranks #1 for a keyword phrase with limited search volume (about 50 a day on google) and the site has no PR, no backlinks (other than some free directory submissions done a long time ago). Your domain name carries weight with google.
According to Google Adwords Traffic Estimator, that search terms gets no searches. Nothing showing up in Wordtracker either. My advice is to do some keyword research and try to rank for some keywords that have traffic. Links are in my post to help...
I have a site that ranks 1st page for digitalpoint in Yahoo and Google. Anyone wants to help me beat Shawn?
