It;s hard slap on each and every webmasters who does not know, relation between Higher SERP and Good PR. In Each and Every webmasters forum, there are most of the members are going to define PR is Worthless, it's nothing to do with SERP. Now read below given link from Google, http://www.google.com/corporate/tech.html In which it totally indicates that still PR is important for getting higher rankings and it's true. The second thing for getting higher SERP, is good backlinks with proper anchor. So let me know, over here webmasters are right or Google itself ? PR is still required to get high serp rankings. And one who thinks it;s not tell Google to remove this particular page. But do this dare if you are an owner of Google. Hope this will ends up the dicussions with the relation of serp and pr.
You can believe what you want. PR is only one portion of a large algorithm. PR, in itself, will not help you rank well. Links from related trusted sites will help you rank well. Trusted sites pass PR. If you go out and get a bunch of links from a non-related site, your PR will increase but not your SERPS. There are tens of thousands of examples of sites that outrank other sites with higher PR. Check the highly competitive term "mortgage loans" - notice how the highest PR site is not #1? Notice how loanpuppet.com is outranking many PR6 & PR7 sites with a PR2?
some of you guys must be ... well let me not... google does list them according to pr but it also must be relevant enough, what if mybank.com was pr10 and had "mortgage loans" in the footer somewere, it will not rank #1... and thats how it should be, if it was 100% plain pr then google would be a mess. Now if that pr10 page was optimized for "mortgage loans" it would be #1.
Trust me, it won't end the discussions. That link has been posted and discussed dozens of time on this forum. Results? — Opinions on the "fact or fiction" of the PR-SERPs link are still widely varied and often heatedly discussed on Digital Point. My personal opinion after studying this for years and reading thread after thread on the PR-SERPs subject? — I really don't know; only Google knows for sure how much or little PR affects SERPs.
quality backlinks give you good (real not toolbar) PR flowing in your site. if it is then optimised well, it will rank. without any real PR flowing you will not be ranking well.
I don't think the question has ever been whether PageRank has an effect on serps - the questions are - how much weight are given to the other factors QUOTE Our search engine also analyzes page content. However, instead of simply scanning for page-based text (which can be manipulated by site publishers through meta-tags), our technology analyzes the full content of a page and factors in fonts, subdivisions and the precise location of each word. We also analyze the content of neighboring web pages to ensure the results returned are the most relevant to a user's query. at what point does 'relevancy' to a query over-ride PageRank, (and other factors such as age of domain) and also, do you actually know the true PageRank - because the toolbar won't tell you. That makes enough inponderables to make chasing PageRank and PageRank only, a narrow-minded strategy.
I only care about pagerank because of interlinking. If your root domain has a good page rank and from there you link to your internal pages with proper anchors, you get quality backlinks. If you would be chasing pagerank only for ONE page, than you could as well leave it, as it wouldn't really make any difference in SERP's.
PR is a portion of the ranking as said, and as it's a portion of the ranking it is still important. Matt Cutts has said on his site before PR plays a part and is important. Anyone who says it's worthless simply doesn't know what they are talking about.
Come on guys, in the first place how would a Website or a URL gets it's PR value ??? Simply because it got some backlinks from other websites with higher PR... Right ?! So if those high PR backlinks used your 'keyword' the one you are trying to rank on as the anchor text... THEN you will rank well for that term only if your website is related... Right ??? Bottom line: based on my seo experience: Backlinks with High PR from related and quality websites using the Required keyword as the Anchor Text of the links are the most important factor to rank well in Google for any niche if your site have some related content.
