well I'd like to ask one to look at my submission. I was told to only submit once, and that there was a dataloss last winter. I'd like to know if my site is still in que and if not should I resubmit...or maybe since there is no editor for my 3 selected categories maybe a "higher up" could browse and check on it? I think I have a site that is worthy and would love to be listed in DMOZ (who wouldn't :D )

If I become an editor I'd just list my own site (a few other also + drop a couple) but was told that's not proper so I'd rather not re-apply as an editor (conflict of interest thing)....

In another thread I read that, I believe I have some very useful and unique content that can be found nowhere else...
cam calc (only one I know of)/protree (save and averages use times + compares you to other users)/online dyno (the only free one i know of and the only online dyno I know of) + some other stuff that can be found nowhere else or was first published on my site (ie vortec springs max lift work around etc..)

Perfectly reasonable, but should we satisfy your curiousity first, or the other 60,000 submitters who also have the very best of sites? ;) I suspect those 60,000+ might object to you being first though.

Well since I have actively went out seeking help after waiting a year or two to hear word back (or anything other than silence! )maybe a slight exception could be made just once. Also if those 60,000 include sites like this http://www.pitgear.com/ I may be in for a long wait.....as that's one I would dump before I even listed my own site if I were to become a mod. I mean how does a site with the title "Irish Hills Vacation Rental" even get listed in Shopping: Sports: Motorsports: Auto Racing: Classifieds ??

It was probably listed properly in the first place but has since changed. Did you use the update url at DMOZ to report it?

It's been suggested that you could resubmit if your prior submission was before the server crash as it was probably lost.

Of course it could, now to decide which one of those 60,001 should receive that one exception. After all, we want to be fair, don't we? and, you're not the only one asking for information.

By the way, no notice is ever given to any submitter. If a site is listed, you'll see it in the Directory, if it isn't or hasn't been listed yet, you won't see it. Not much need for an editor to inform you of something you can see for yourself, and if editors were to discuss each submission with each submitter, the waiting time could be multiplied 60,000+ times or more. (kind of counterproductive, I think)

I can understand why you would only be concerned about yourself, but editors would have to consider everyone, not just one person, if we were able to go that route. The truth is editors build categories for web surfers, they don't offer a listing service for submitters, so what you're asking for is something editors don't provide, and never have provided.

You're confused because we do provide a suggestion box for the public, where they can suggest a site for inclusion, but editors have no obligation to look at or use those suggestions. Some editors do and other editors don't.

The suggestions are appreciated and sometimes useful, but every site on the Internet is fair game for an editor, they have multiple ways of finding them, and they need neither the permission nor the suggestion to use them. They can list whatever they choose to list, as long as it complies with the editing Guidelines.

Good, then I take it that there is an honorable and trustworthy editor here that will remove it...and add my site in it's place :D
