I need some advice

    I am about to set up a skateboarding website, but I need to know how to get higher ranking in Google and other popular search engines. Please give me some advice

    If you're new to SEO then I suggest you to read the articles, forum posts, discussions in the first place to get the idea what is to be done. How you do it is upto to you. Also, it can take some to see the results.

    Links and Content are two main things to be considered while improving the rankings.

    There is only one way to boost your SERP - gain backlinks from quality sites.
    Original content optimized for your keywords will help a lot too.

    just do some keyword research and plc that keywords in ur onpage factors and start building backlinks.

    Just start building natural links and optimize your site for it. For skateboarding, you'll need to do some keyword research as I'm not sure what kind of keywords you should be going for.

    IMO only backlinks do not improve SERP rankings... I have sites with very few backlinks and with PR1 (although completely natural with no forced backlinks) and very high traffic and they are at top 5 of google rankings with highly competitive keywords

    Traffic + backlinks = good SERP
