Can you guys plz help me out to clarify my doubt ..if i can purchase a .org domain name for commercial purpose

It would be great if you can provide some supporting statement for your answers.

I heard from few people saying that .ORG names should be used only for NON PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS

Although it was originally intended to be for non-profit organisations, anyone is free to register .ORG for any purpose, including commercial purposes.

Thats not true mate..There is no such rule.
You can register a .org for commercial purposes too. I myself use .org domains when .com/.net are unavailable, or when I just like a .org domain.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.org

Intended is "generally noncommercial", but it's not a rule.

there is no such problem with using .org for organisation. Its not always for .org anyway. I think pirate.org is used to download pirate videos or something while the official WWF isa .info - panda.info. :)

Don't worry, you can own .orgs as many as you can, and no matter what you will do with them if no TM issues
