Domains names will change forever, the people who have hundreds of domains, I feel terribly sorry for them because they will be paying much more. For the people who wants things such as ".shop" and ".lnd", you possibly got a spare $300,000.00 USD to buy one?

You can't register .bollocks however since they have kept that one back for themselves.
    I wonder how long before
.888 is available or .911 for doctors etc.
    This is too far.
Your comment is true with a slight flaw
All local business will register a local domain, if only to stop somone else doing it!

its not the best idea... however it does make it a more open market... and even though this'll make .com's more valuable the internet should have the ability to let global markets decide their own medium of exchange.. ...I like the price they're selling for though... nicely placed at market!

the average internet user is computer illiterate, they will forget you own pets.fish and end up on pets.com anyway

I'm not sure why but according to BBC world, Singapore was among the authorities promoting the idea. I suppose, this has something to do with their considerable ties with ICANN.
