With a 5-4 decision, that means that 5 of the justices are for the citizens and 4 of the justices are against the citizens of the USA.

There is no such thing as an unarmed citizen. It is the duty of every citizen to be at all times armed. Whether this is a firearm, mace, stun gun or a knife. The government, nor other citizens have anything to worry about when law abiding people are armed. My guns will NEVER be used to commit a crime. And why is that? Because I am an outstanding member of society.

McCain backs gun decision, Obama straddles issue

WASHINGTON - John McCain welcomed a Supreme Court decision invalidating a District of Columbia handgun ban. Barack Obama sought to straddle the subject by saying he favors an individual's right to bear firearms as well as a government's right to regulate them.

Why should Obama take a stance? ................It's not like he's President.

People in small towns being "bitter" and "clinging to guns" is one of Obama's more funny remarks :D

That is because Obama does not understand middle class America.

I own guns not because I am "bitter" but because it is my right and I am a hunter. Hunting and the wild game I take is a big part of my families diet. We rarely buy ground meat, its mostly deer mixed with beef. Most of the sausage we eat is deer mixed with beef or pork. Just about every hunting season either I or my son will take one or two deer. This will fill our freezer for until the next hunting season.

Obama can not see past the end of his nose. Hunting and gun ownership is an american right, its part of our history and our heritage.

If obama and mccain are the best this nation has to offer as a leader, we are not in serious trouble, we are in really serious trouble.

I don't own a gun, and I don't hunt, but I get a lot of great meat from all the hunters and farmers I know. We barter, some hay for some meat, some vegetables sometimes. This is the sort of thing communities have done since the dawn of civilization and most of the gun grabbers don't get it. Hell even most of the politicians who are for guns don't get it, the kind that hunt birds they won't eat and end up shooting their buddy in the face because they don't understand basic gun safety.

We're supposed to rely on these people to keep us safe? No thanks, I'd rather protect myself...

    Amen.

This was an excellent ruling - very encouraging for those of us who still believe in our constitution. Furthermore, as an Illinois resident, it will be interesting to see how the NRA suit of the city of Chicago will progress.
