The "more" option on wordpress that lets you post the first few sentences of your story is not always used. If the full story was on the front page of a blog and then when the title is clicked on you go to the page designated for that story, is this classed as duplicated content?
That is a good question. I know it does duplicate everything. Links, blog roll etc. I wonder if Google bot frowns upon it.
I think so. In fact, I set the index.php and archive.php files as the_excerpt and not the_content. So, only the page designated for the article contains the full story of it.

yeah but thats ok, google penalize duplicate content by showing what it thinks the original copy first and the duplicate later. if they both on your site then it doesn't matter which one is listed first
thats my take on it. I let the home page version get indexed and the single version, I put no index tags on the category pages..
If its only an excerpt that you have yourself edited on the front page say 5-10 lines of the actual article, and we are not talking blogs or wordpress just a static website it would not be duplicated content would it?
Yes, it's entirely possible it will be flagged as duplicate content. However, if the blog home page is updated often enough, it shouldn't be a problem, as long as you limit the number of full post articles on that page. But it's always best to play it safe and use the_excerpt(); instead.
In my eyes google optimized its crawler by inserting a dc check. A few months ago dc killed some of my pages, but last week i saw an interesting note on my site: request: Results 1 - 13 from 10 That looks for me, that google isnt counting everty page - maybe it excludes the dc pages???
i think , its not duplicate contents. beacuse both are on same site. however don't do spam. same contents on too many pages. for example check google site. blogger.com blogs http://articledirectoryscripts.blogspot.com/ http://articledirectoryscripts.blogspot.com/2008/06/how-to-get-most-out-of-pay-per-click-ad.html Thanks.
Yes it would be duplicate but I wouldn't worry about it. Duplicate content only becomes a big problem when you copy huge amounts of duplicate text and place it on a number of pages, a small title and short summary are unlikely to make a difference
Actually duplicate content is duplicate content. It doesn't matter if it's on the same domain or multiple domains. If two pages have substantially similar content (and I mean the words, not the topic), then the search engines are going to pick one and discard the rest.
