If i upload same videos on YouTube, AOL Video, Dailymotion , Vimeo and other big video sharing websites with website link in the description of the video.

I have experienced that many less popular video sharing or video websites pick the video data from these big websites.

Do you think it's a good way to get large number of backlinks?

Depends on the popularity of the video. I've seen video pages upto PR 6.

It's good for PR, but probably not too great for getting traffic.

And it will be good if the videos are related to the contents you post in your website.

Video sharing is a good way to promote your website. Just what they said, it depends on how your video will be popularized.

I doubt you can get a large number of backlinks this way. Having said that, I had a site that got PR2 two month after I added a video to youtube... might be just a coincidence. This approach does bring traffic though.

for your information the small video sharing website which extract description and video from biggies , dont put the url under <a herf> tags , it gets there as simple text i have tested this

and even live links on youtube etc dont help much , they just bring traffic unless there in big numbers

It is good for SEM - which can be good - if you know how to manage it!

Good for a quick traffic boost I'd say but not so sure how much benefit you'd get for a backlink from there, depends on the the PR.

That's true, I also checked this. Links are not active links, plain text only.

Thanks , I'm planning to have videos this way , but I think the traffic might be only from very "good " of "interesting" stuff.

The links tend to be nofollow but it can get you some decent traffic.

I tried experimenting it by uploading some videos to major video sharing sites. I am not expecting traffic because uploaded videos are not related to my site contents. But it could perform well with related contents because the sites like dailymotion, Aol video, vimeo and YouTube get indexed very soon by search engines.
