For a limited time only, my expertise and services in search engine optimization (SEO) will be made available to the Digital Point forums community. Please note that this is being offered from now until 30 June 2008, at which time I will request the thread to be locked by a moderator. (Note: If my services are still in demand after the thread is closed, I will start a new, permanent services thread that will offer more than what I can provide during this limited 30 day period.)

My expertise and six years experience in developing accessible, easy to use Web sites, as well as my All You Need to Know About SEO tutorial thread, my WordPress SEO Checklist and my various contributions on the forums (such as how to get 300 keywords to rank well in the search engines within 90 days) have allowed me to become widely regarded as one of the most knowledgeable SEO experts on the forum. In addition to this, I'm also a Design Team Advisor at the SitePoint Forums (I also help people on the SEO board there) as well as a forum moderator at the SEO.com forums. I also offer SEO and Web development advice on other forums as well, including but not limited to Talk Freelance, CodingForums, Webmaster Talk, and the International Web Developers Network (and yes, I do use my real name on those forums as well) in my spare time as time permits (most of my spare time is spent here, on SitePoint, and SEO.com).

    What I'm Offering
For the next 30 days I will be offering the following search engine optimization services to those who request them:

    • Web Site Analysis (How your Web site is doing, what you're doing right, and what you need to fix as soon as possible.)
    • Competitive Site Analysis (How your competitors are doing - what they're doing right, what they're doing wrong, and what you can do to beat them.)
    • WordPress Optimization (There is more to optimizing WordPress than my SEO Checklist.)
    • Competitive Link Analysis
    • Keyword Research (Local and Competitive)
    • Content Optimization (for both search engines and people)
    • Any SEO-related special requests you may have, time (and ability within reason) permitting (please note I do not do article submissions or social media marketing, so please don't ask; I'm also very conservative in how I do directory submissions).
Please note that I will not accept offers or requests to optimize adult, gambling, pornographic or other socially unacceptable Web sites. While I am not a so-called "Bible thumper" I do have my standards and I request that you respect them. Therefore, any such requests will be considered to be spam and treated accordingly.

    Why I'm Doing This
I have a couple of Web sites that I'm currently developing which need design work done. Given that I'm focusing on the development and optimization of these sites, I simply do not have the time to handle the design work, so I hired a competent Web designer I know to help ease the workload. As with all Web design jobs, good work simply does not come cheap, and since I want the best, I need to be able to pay top dollar for her help.

One of the Web sites is going to be an online magazine similar to Digital Web Magazine and A List Apart, but with an emphasis on creating accessible, easy to use Web sites that are also optimized for the search engines using the bare minimum of code necessary. The other site will be the home of a free WordPress Theme framework that's optimized to the hilt for the search engines which has been under development for over a year. Both of these Web sites have the potential to become very popular very fast, which means that I'll probably have to secure a dedicated server before they launch to ensure that they can withstand any sudden rushes of traffic (such as making it to the front page of Digg or being hit by the classic Slashdot effect), especially given the resources I'll be dedicating to marketing and promoting them when they launch.

    Pricing Information
So what is this going to cost? Since every Web site and situation is different, that's going to be hard to say. My hourly rate for standard work is $80/hour in 15 minute increments (meaning that 15 minutes of my time will cost $20); however, I will make every effort to work with you to create a custom service plan that I hope will save you as much money as possible (this means I will not try to up sell you on services you do not need) based on your Web site's needs and requirements. All prices are in United States Dollars (USD).

I also have standard packages available for those who are interested, such as a $50 basic SEO site analysis (which covers Web page markup issues, META data and page titles, and other basic on-page factors that may be holding your Web site back, plus links to resources that show how to conduct your own basic keyword research), a $100 regular on-page SEO report (this covers everything in the basic package, plus the links to the keyword keyword research will be replaced with a basic keywords analysis, and an information architecture audit that will look at your site's internal structure and recommend any changes that can improve your rankings), as well as my standard $250 SEO Analysis which covers everything in the regular report, but in more detail and also includes an overview of potential accessibility and usability issues that may be causing your site's bounce rate to increase (and thus lose customers), an overview of your top competitors (thankfully a lot of Web sites I see are not even optimized properly, so the information in the SEO Analysis should be enough to bypass many of your competitors in the rankings, allowing you to focus on those who may be killing you left and right in the SERPs).

Please note that when it comes to an analysis or audit, I will only charge you for the time it takes to gather the information - not the time it takes to write the report. Under no circumstances whatsoever will I charge for the time it takes to write the reports, which are custom tailored to each individual site - I do not use templates. I also have other packages available; please enquire via private message for more details.

    Shall We Start?
If you're interested, please contact me via private message for more details and pricing information for the services you want rendered, or post a reply in this thread and I will contact you as soon as possible. (Note: I will be unavailable on Saturday May 31 and Saturday June 14th due to personal and family obligations; I will do my best to respond to all correspondence the next day.)

Remember, this is a limited time offer, so don't delay - hire me today!

Cheers for the On-Site Report Dan =) My traffic has doubled in less than a week already!

For anybody reading this, i can say the report is very well written and customized for your site. I thought i knew most things from reading threads on DP etc, but the report contained suggestions i would never think of! Forget link building (at first), i did none of that, just getting my actual site optimized is increasing business two fold.

Thanks, Declan. I figured it would increase, but I never thought it would literally double inside of a week. Nice to see that it's working for you already.

    Hi Jayson,

I'd be more than happy to send you a PM about the details. I've also IM'd you on Yahoo as well just in case the forum's database goes again (like it did at the beginning of the week). Would you like me to CC you a copy via email as well?

    Hi Stefano,

Please check your PM and email inboxes. Your on-page report ended up being much larger than previously estimated and anticipated (not to mention the severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings that kept me away from the computer a good part of the weekend that I had allocated to your report). I also included some search engine marketing tips that should help you acquire quality incoming links from related sites that are ranking well in the search engines to help boost your site's position in the rankings and avoid being sandboxed as well.

I sincerely apologize for the delay, but it is my hope that you will not only find the information extremely useful but will also be able to rank well for related search terms that you did not even consider (not to mention utilizing unique keyword combinations that can drive even more traffic to your new Web site than would normally be possible). I've also included extra recommendations and resources in the email and private message (the PM is a carbon copy of the email) that you may find helpful as well.

Got your email and your PM. The weather was rough over the weekend; a power outage ended up knocking out the power supply unit on the PC while I was out of state, so I wasn't able to check it before today.

It looks like you weren't getting my emails (apparently that's happened to one other person as well). I've sent you a PM with the details. Can you check to see whether my email address is being filtered out by a spam blocker for me?

(For the record - I'm using Gmail for my email since my hosting provider's email servers have been inundated with attacks as of late. I'm about to ditch that hosting provider for another one; when that happens, I'll start using my primary email address again. In the meantime however, please CC any emails that you may send to me via private message to ensure I receive them. I apologize for the inconvenience this is causing.)

    Hi,

I had Dan take a look at one of my Wordpress based websites. A few days later a comprehensive .pdf report was delivered to my inbox.
To be honest its the BEST $100 I have ever spent. No fluff, no rubbish, his SEO analysis is detailed, thorough and will stand the test of time.

He deals with site security, the importance of good code as well as keyword research and copy writing and also includes some advice that you will not of heard of before.

Feel free to PM me if you want further details, its no sweat to me as I'm really happy with the service I got.

Don't expect a quick 24 hour report. He will strip your site apart and TELL you exactly what needs doing. All of this takes a bit of time, but trust me its worth the wait.

Ah, but are you going to use that page I rewrote and optimized for its primary search term though? :D

Thank you. Let's see if we can nip this in the bud, shall we? :)

Good luck with all this, Dan. I'd heard you were really busy lately; now I know why : ) So, when is it going to get to the point that you get around your landlord's phoneline??

Since I don't have any sites that need any SEO stuff, I'm curious, do you have an example somewhere of someone's site you looked at, and an example report, and then what that person did with your info and the result?

Though I might ask fireworks-styles, if s/he kept a copy of the old code somewhere too. SEO is some big black box for me, mostly because I'm not in that sell-stuffs-on-teh-interwebs population.

I would like to personally thank everyone who inquired into my search engine optimization services over the past month. I've definately learned a lot about how the freelance SEO industry works from the inside, and hope to apply the lessons I learned in the future (lesson #1 - never write custom SEO reports by hand when you have a lot of them to write; each one will be bigger than the one that came before it).

I would also like to let everyone know that those who PM'd me prior to this thread being closed that their requests will still be honored unless I've said otherwise already (I've only turned down two forum members - one due to a NSFW site, and the other due to a lack of time; that, and the first of the two outstanding reports will be sent out tomorrow - my entire body still hurts all over like heck from spending the weekend helping some friends of the family move to Florida; in the rain no less, and PMs will be sent to the two forum members so they know).
