    Adobe Dreamweaver is the best - but to be honest, Frontpage is as good as any.

    if looking for software you can use Dreamweaver.. but if you only need static html pages for your website do it with coding (its also easy to learn)..

    notepad is slow? Where did you get that garbage? Notepad is probably the most efficent text editor in the world, although I use notepad++ which is a souped up version of notepad with more coding features.

    Badly written code is difficult to debug.

    Notepad is fine, a text editor with syntax highlighting is much better.

    I still use FrontPage for some things, but it has so many cascading menus that it takes a long time to learn and can be slow to accomplish many things. I wouldn't really recommend it to someone now. I think the free, open source program Nvu works really well. It seems to be able to do most of what FrontPage can do but is easier to navigate.

    Simple text editors: vi or vim (if you want syntax highlighting).

    I suggest you use NVU. They are as powerful and easy to use like Dreamweaver. And best of all they are free to use. Google NVU. Goodluck:)

    Adobe dreamweaver is the best IMO too.. there are a lot of html editors available if you dont want to use dreamweaver... you can search for them in download.com by the highest downloads and you would find a very good solution

    Yay for Notepad++! :)

    I generally use Dreamweaver to code things, but if I can't be bothered waiting for it to load, then Notepad++ takes the lead.

    Dreamweaver is defo the best IMO, I've been using it for years and still keep finding useful little features that I never knew existed on there. Although for a newb at web design it can be overpowering.

    Notepad is good if you already know what your doing - simple and straightforward.

    If I was to recommend something somewhere in between the two, there's a package called Webweaver - it's very old but is a basic html text editor with a few useful features such as coloured tags, html lookup and table / form wizards. Very basic but good.

    But really I think you should go for Dreamweaver :)
