I have a website that has only 330,000 competing pages, the keyword however is very competitive in because it is in regards to real estate in the town I am living. I have a good site and am starting to add pages to the site, external links, the necessary headers, alt tags, etc. The only main thing I am missing is good quality links. The only problem is, the only thing I can really do is buy links from Business.com, Gimpsy, JoeAnt, etc. The reason being, There are only bout four or five sites that are relative that have good page rank but they are the city sites and university sites that don't link out. I have already analyzed the top 2 positions backlinks and they aren't that great, yet I am #53 for the term Oxford MS Rael Etaste (didnt want to spell it out correctly) My site is www . oxford top agent . com if you would like to critique it. I could do the social bookmarking, the article submissions, blog comments, etc but I don't want to do that and waste my time if it in fact is a waste of time. Can anyone give me some suggestions as to what you would do? My site is only 1 year old ,and the sites that are #1 and #2 are 6 and 9 years old if that helps you.
If you having problem finding good links, then articles submission and Social bookmarks are the best you can start with. It's not waste of time.
Writing articles linking to your site is never a waste of time. You have links on the left hand column of your site e.g. "Retire in Oxford" which would appear to link away from your site. Why not write your own articles to list on your own site and rather than direct visitors away? Doing this will increase the chance that other sites will link to yours. The more internal articles you have the greater the chance of picking up inbound links. Jon
Very good point! I have often thought about doing that and not enough "action" I am now inserting a page a day of about 25 articles I have written. Then I will concentrate on those links. Thanks a lot! Any other suggestions?
Almost all links will have some benefit on ranking if the associated link text is relevant to your site, i.e. the link text is your keyword text or a close variation. Links from similar sites are best but failing that you won't waste time by getting links from other sites too.
Best way is getting links from real estate sites. I am sure there are tons of blogs on that. Why don't you find some of them that does DOFOLLOW links and post comments on them. Also you can buy reviews from real estate blogs. Articles is also a great way of getting traffic and improve SERP rankings.
If the competition is strong there is what i recommend to do: making other topic-related sites, rss feed, buy other competitive services (in fact this is the best but i assume that you can't spend such a huge amount of money). The previous two are good though and not such expensive. Try to invest some money bussines is risk.
You have too many outgoing links ... if it is urgent put a nofollow tag on them. Who said social bookmarking, article submission, directory submissions are waste of time? I can't believe someone gave you such advice. Everyone can't be wrong. However, I wrote artcle on off page seo and on page seo - you may find them useful.
Add content to your site, post article on your own blog.. submit article on article directories.. Unique and search engine friendly (keywords) content is one of the most powrful thing with you can compete other..
In my opinion directory submission is a waste of time. I would rather focus on linkbait and spend the time writing content rich articles that will promote natural linking than spend time submitting to directories that google will eventually discount anyway.
