That is a bummer. Do get a downpayment next time. Are they visuals you could sell elsewhere?

Just so you know, taking 2 separate payments isn't going to change the PayPal fees. Its a set percentage, and .3 of 50% twice is the same thing as .3 of 100%. Kinda screwed the pooch there...

    Oh, yes. I forgot that.

Percentages are percentages. And if you do save something, it would be minimal.

Actually it's 30 cents plus the percentage everytime you get a payment, so he would have saved 30 cents. Which really isn't anything at all.

You should have taken the 50% upfront. Good luck in getting your money, and hopefully you learned from this experience.

He probably didn’t have the intention to scam – but he’s probably the careless type, doesn’t care about his businesses and priorities, doesn’t check on who he owes money, etc. which is unfortunate, if I’m right, if ever, he’d probably check on his priorities in months time when you probably wouldn’t need the money. You can sense people like him, be careful with who you do business with. Some people simply don’t care or does it purposely, it’s a mental thing.

Stop daydreaming, how can you possibly force him to pay you? You are at the losing end here.

It does seem like you got scammed, but there are many ways to try to compensate for it. For example, as others have said, you may be able to sell the work to others. If I were you, I would spend more time finding other people to buy the work than trying to make him pay.

Even if you lose out, while it is inconvenient, you will have learned a lesson about business for $400 that some people have lost their life savings over.

What is the difference between .jpg and .psd? Why does he need the original photoshop file, he can use the .jpg ones? Or maybe I'm wrong?
