I have a certain website (not revealing for fear of competition - it's a dead site after all), which is hosted on blogspot, has a PR of 1, and has a total of 6 posts. Been dead for at least a year. Well, just recently I decided to look at analytics - the site gets 20 unique views per day (all organic), because it ranks first for a term searched 20 times a day on average. Best of all: this is highly targeted traffic. I have just put up adsense for search and content (and I mean just) and already gotten a click. Probably people coming here then clicking the links coz they didn't get what they came for...
OMG! 20 visitors per day, 1 click! This is incredible, call CNN now to make sure everyone hears about this!
Wow. your sig fits you so well! ANYWAYS! AS YOU WERE SAYING Yeah i can see how something like that could be time-consuming but think about the pay-off it might incur... You never know. Maybe if you decided to rekindle the flame that you had for that back when you created it, it won't seem so tedious and cumbersome. You might find that you actually enjoy doing it again and especially if the pay-off starts looking nice... Another thing you could try is put some effort into it again, just for a little bit, update it, you know, maybe get even more traffic coming in for a few days and then sell it as a PR1 targeted niche blog.... However, these are only my opinions, of course, i have no idea of the entire story or situation you're in so there's no way for me to know exactly what's best for you. That's for you to decide, these are just some suggestions. hope it helps!
you should become a comedian. face it, this is just another useless DP thread....if the blog was getting 1000 visitors or making $50 a day, that would be very cool....but 20 visitors?
Actually I would really like to know what you mean. I have a great interest in comics, especially mobile comics, and have been thinking of different ways to get a comic going online. Are you saying it's not worth the effort for you?
What are you talking about? I'm not trying to start a fight with you or anything and 'really' make this thread useless, but did you even read the OP's first post? He's just looking for some suggestions on what to do with his 20 visitor blog. This is actually very interesting to people with brains, because it's actually a pretty neat little feat! How do you start getting 20 consistent visitors everyday all of a sudden after a year of no promotion and assumed death? I think this is pretty neat and I wish people like you did not come on threads like this and ruin it by being the first one with some wise-ass comment. Please. What is the point of ridiculing him? Honestly? What is the point of you making that demeaning, rude post up there? It just seems crazy to me that people like you will do that...
@teruchan - i was kinda thinking the same thing. Honestly, i'd be down to submit some cartoons...if you got it up and running again...
I just think he means it takes a lot of effort to come up with a strip as opposed to say a single blog post. That said, it's easier for some people to do and more rewarding than say, a blog post.
That's kind of my thinking. I love to write and do so all the time, but I love making comics even more. If I could generate significant ad revenue from a comic, updated regularly, I would be an extremely happy web dude.
@ teruchan - DO IT, BRO! If that would make you happy then why not? @ OP - i'm just wondering, but why are you worried about competition if you aren't even really interested in making the effort to compete? you know what im saying?
Yeah, I'm definitely going to do it. I am just getting down to the specifics of finding the right format and method of delivery etc. If there's one thing I have learned in my life on the web, it is that consistency wins the day. So I need to be sure I have way to go about it that I am very happy with so that I can stick with it, be prolific and be consistent.
if its highly targeted traffic i would find an affiliate program that matches and you could probably make a lot more then adsense
