my 9-5 company just forked out $8000 to a blogging corp which then kept a finders fee and handed the rest out to 12 chosen bloggers for their 'opinion / review' of a product. That's not chump change. I've made some from my blogs (voxnews.ca / salelogic.ca ) and I have a subscription list of 20,000+ emails.. just not sure how you make money from the list.
Here in sweden there's like loads of young female bloggers wich earns a living. A 17 year old girl made 100.000 usd last year. And Also a 15 year old girl made 37.000 usd last year. AND they dont tax lol. They are too young to know how to and stuff so now the papers are reporting that a big after tax is waiting for them. So remember to tax your bax!
I agree with johnny604, hard work and especially persistence are key. Just think how great it is to be able to work from wherever you chose developing a blog with your own rules and guidelines and being able to make money from it. Why would anyone quit this? One important thing to keep in mind though is that blogging is not a weekly or monthly task. A blog needs to be updated frequently, ideally once per day to build up the content and keep it fresh which your visitors and the search engines will love.
If you start from the premise, make a blog get some money, you will get nothing. First of all you should write for your readers and after that for advertising.
Seriously, earning from a single blog is difficult and ... i would say, almost impossible. But from a well established network , that should be easy !!
It's not as easy as it sounds. I'm currently managing 2 blogs and 1 site, and hell.... it's already tiring me.
Yes, It's not easy. But nothing is impossible if do by effort can be earn handsome money by blogging.
I haven't started my own blog yet, but I know that it's not an easy path to walk. It does take time, dedication, and knowledge on which niche to create your blog around that will return the best results.
List building is everything to your business. The main goal is to get a targeted email list that you can market to over and over again.
IMHO, I don't think the average person can make a living blogging, especially if you have one or two blogs. But it might work if you have a network of blogs.
I dont make a living with my blog, but i can a few ps3's every 4/5 months although im not buying a ps3 (saving for a nice car)
It is all about traffic and monetization. Is it possible to make a living from a single blog? Of course it is, IF you have the traffic and a niche from which you can make money. If you market the blog with articles and social bookmarking in addition to your blog posting and you monetize it properly you can definitely make a living from a single blog. Personally, I have several and I used to have over 300 but I pared it down because the outsourcing was more of a headache than it was worth to me for such a large network and I had grown it faster than the income would support to hire someone to manage it. The truth is that not many people make money from their blogs but those who do won't go telling everybody that they made good money. It is possible to make money from blogging but you cannot depend on blogging alone to quit working from your current job. You have to do more online money making opportunities. Blogging is not the only way to do so.
