I need a script that will resize images without affecting quality. It should resize the image width to 400px. There is an opportunity for more work if this project goes well.

I already have done this and the script uses the GD library to resize the images and whatever you set as the size it will do the resizing at that size and resolution will be at 96 DPI.

Let me know if you are interested.

For goodness sake, what if the OP has zero programming knowledge, say he doesn't even know how to assign a value to a variable?? Do you think he can understand the PHP.net pages you gave? Do you think if he can program in PHP he would post this offer here? Not everyone here can program you know.

I finished the job already for 20$.

yes, It's not that easy. you must read the code and database firstly. and then hack.
after the coding work finished. I found the the server have no gd (I'v told him before start, GD lib is nessary), But it seems he no nothing about this.
so I have to asked for ssh account, login, install them from scrach. Search and download zlib, jpeg, libpng, freetype, php source etc, rebuid and reinstall.
at last I have to add water mark function in the php code and modify some css to fit the images.
It cost at least 5 hours. it is not that worth to do this. But I think I should do this best since I promised.
