how much power and influence does google hold?? Can they make or break companies?? if they say alter there algorithim?? Who monitors google and regulates there power?? Can anyone say whether this power will continue to grow??

As long as Google is not engaging in blatantly anti-competitive practices (and I don't see evidence that they are), then people's use of their search engine is voluntary and I don't see any reason why they should be regulated. Most of the complaints about Google come from people who are trying to spam their own web sites into the index. I don't see end-users complaining about it, which tells me that things are probably working well.
We can not say God of internet, But still it's one of the major part of internet industry... Who knows tomorrow?
Google can break companies, by just marking their site off as a malware source. Anyone who sees the listing will lose trust in the company. Of course, this only works for smaller companies. People will hate on Google if it marks Yahoo as malware.

Google is by far the best search engine - or at least it has the most people using it for searches. Note sure if it can make or break companies - companies mostly do that for themselves if they don't operate successfully.
Google could take any site and make its owner millionaires if they wished, they could also take a huge site and cause it to lose a very large portion of its earnings. Google is all powerful

If google is to "alter there algorithim", it is to improve results. Unless the company is using blackhat or was just plain lucky to get the listing they got, they shouldn't be effected. There are rules that we play by. Good sites get listed at the top and that's why Google is popular.
Yes google is god and many have earned good money from it also and their are still those are minting good money while sitting at home . Google is the search engine which you can find in any cyber cafe home pages all most . No one can beat them and now google have planned new services to Indian adword users and they can pay by checks and dd's also .
