I have a successful blog at blogspot with a page rank of 4. I have registered a domain name for the blog to match the blog title. How will using the new www domain URL affect my search engine results, page rank, etc.

I am worried that since I have tons of quality backlinks to my blog, the new URL will hurt my traffic.

    Paranoid I guess lol

I am not sure whether blogspot.com allows you to do 301 redirect to new website.

However you have two options :-

    1) Register a domain and then do a 301 redirect towards blogspot.com, but this wont serve your purpose.

    2) Check if blogspot has any options to set of 301 redirect from old site towards new website.

In case option 2 is not available then you will have to start from scratch and it could be a time-consuming activity. If you try to transfer content from your blogspot to new domain, then it could be mistaken as a DUPLICATE CONTENT.

Basically I just registered the new URL through Blogspot (they use GoDaddy) and it automatically redirects all traffic from the new URL to Blogspot. I am not moving any content from Blogspot, just registered a URL to match my blog title.
