Did I get ripped up?

Is this a fair deal, or did I get ripped up

I paid a person $100 through ebay to create me a fully functional
south park" episode viewing site. But instead this person used joomla to setup and manage everything and added a copy of another website's epsiode viewer with another person's ads. The only ads I have is the adsense at the top

Is it even well made in terms of keywords, SEO, All that?

Installing joomla and copying some other sites episode viewer is not a hundred dollar job. You should have told him you wanted a unique, fully coded site.

Sounds like you asked for fruit and got an apple when you wanted grapes. I've made the same mistake a few hundred times.

I dont think so unless you told them to code a website. I think running a CMS would be easier to manager a website like the one you have but not worth $100 IMO.

    Your mistakes:
    1) You weren't specific about what you wanted.
    2) You got a coder on eBay (what?!!)

I think you should have been more specific, just be glad it wasn't $1000

I wouldn't say you got ripped off, but the fruit comment is on par....It pays to have someone that you can go to and trust that wont just basically put 2 and 2 together to equal 4 for you....Have you tried going back to the guy and asking if anything can be modified to be a bit more unique?

I dont think so that you are ripped off,
I cant under stand that you have made the payment at eBay. If so why dont you raised an trouble ticket with eBay?

Moreover this is not a $100 job, if you gotta have quality you have to pay for the same. There are lots of people offering cheap services, and buyer never cares about the quality and at last they REMPANT for that.

Be happy that its just a 100 not in thousands.

I was about to ask about the details you provided and agreed upon before you started the job. From what you got it doesn't come across as being worth 100 green ones!

Did you agree and do you have it available to reference as your proof?

Sounds like a $100 job to me. Great programmers can cost $100+ an hour. If you wanted a site for only $100, then this is on par with what you paid for. Did you really think someone would spend weeks building an original site for just $100?

Agreed. You can't possibly expect to get a serious website for $100. I would say for $100 you get one page designed or just about exactly what you have gotten.

I would have to agree with ahuddy. You got what you would expect for $100 website.

Also agreed. $100 won't buy much code.

If you had wanted something better, you should have been prepared to pay closer to $300.

Of course, I would never just hand out $300 without some references/demos/something.

I also agree, you get what you pay for. You pay $100 for someone to design and build an entire site, you get a $100 site.
