My 6 Month Goal: Break Alexa 100,000

Someone above said something like... "why not have a goal worth having..." and then went on with something...

But I was thinking...

Why not have a real goal like... "I plan to be making 10k per month within the next six months." I'd much rather go for the money... more traffic, whether measured by alexa or on your own webstats, doesnt really mean squat as a correllation to the money you make.

Anyway... not putting you down... Just wondering, why not focus on the income? Are you making money from your site already? If not, why not? Do know how? Maybe thats not your goal... hmmm... I guess that could be it... but in my opinion, if you are doing that well... you could probably find some monetization techniques and just get better at those.

Yes, I am making money on my site.

Alexa = Traffic = Money..

I could have put any of those as my goal, but alexa I can easily show to everyone.

I disagree with you slightly though... on this...

To me, to you, and to many of us... yes this is very true... to some... they have no idea what to do to make money even if they get boatloads of targeted traffic.

Anyway... seriously... I was truly interested in knowing if you were in that category because we'd need to be helping you if you were.

well looks like i got 78k alexa for the week, but im talking about 3 month avg.

 

u need more asia traffic and need those alexa visitors to visit more often

 

Getting in top 100,000 does not mean anything. I have automobile related sites which get 2000 unique visitors every day and their Alexa is near 500,000 - and I have an SEO blog which gets only around 150 unique visitors per day has Alexa around 100,000.

 

Alexa means nothing....I know it looks good and feels good...but really IMO is not very accurate at all....what counts is $ and a good user experience...

 

I must confess I don't really know what the hell Alexa is. Sure I read the charts, etc but what does it mean?

I have had many of my sites into alexa 100000 within a month or two of its launch .. try it and you can easily make it alexa 100000 in 6 months time

 

What ever your site's direction is not important for others but VERY important for you. So, keep it up and archive it. Do your best for sake of your site.

 

Good luck with the goal but Alexa rank is so inaccurate it's not even funny. I know a couple of sites that rank under 100,000 with less than 100 uniques/day; while other sites have over 2,000 uniques/day and barely get in the top hundred thousands. It depends entirely on whether your traffic has the toolbar installed.

If you have a goal that is good. Sometime we need goals to keep focus of what we do especially online when there is so much distraction. You blog looks strong already. In 6 month time you could already achieve PR4. So just continue to build the link and keep posting on high traffic blog.

I started this blog in Mid of March this year and so far been able to bring Alexa Rankings down to 165,000

 

alex is a gimmick, no more, but we all fall for it. It's helpful from a public relations perspective and for persauding companies to buy advertising on your site, but it means nothing.

 

alexa is good for seeing traffic patterns...rises and falls...but its not accurate i agree. still...if you move up in alexa, you're definitely getting more traffic.

 

its good to have goals and directions planned wish you good luck

 

I have the same target but the time limit is a year and I might get there. Got around 130k now started my site in Jan 07
