it could be a door, but here's why I don't think so.

in the real picture there are two white lines on the left hand side of it. One might be the door frame and the other might be the open door part that connects to the frame. but in the animated version, why are those two lines so far apart? that'd have to be a big hinge to swing that wide. on the other hand, maybe it's just an animation and so it is inaccurate.

now if it is a sliding window that would explain why it is in different positions.

 

may be they draw that manga according to the real pic, instead of the other way around

I've finally come over to the door camp, I think I see a knob in the real pic, and the animated one is just drawn inaccurately. I mean if they can't even get the counter to be level...who knows what other home designs they foul up
