    Hey Guys..

I have a question about a problem we had with a clients site. We started to notice links to the site that were mixed in with adult content and pharma like Viagra. looks to me like forum spam. Is there anything we can do to undo this? Maybe there is somthing that can be done on our end? blocking the ips? redirecting the pages?

What is the best defense against this? it has affected my clients google rankings

    Thanks

You can't prevent someone from linking to your site, but even links from the worst sites won't hurt yours. If it did, everyone would destroy their competitors this way.

How are you sure this is the problem? Are there certain domains known for this?

They can indeed, and yes people are destroying their competitors with links.

Does your client's site ranking well now? If not and the damage has great effect then changing your domain name will be the solution.

    OMG is it true...?
I am having the same trouble as OP..

I am getting a lot of backlinks..I dunno how...they have been showing incoming links from porn and gambling sites in my Awstats ..
I earlier thought it would be helpful...but now...?

The one thing that strikes me is that i went to the link and found no link to my site note even meta tag ..i looked through the source but in vain..

So why i am getting hits from that page...?

It's referrer spam, they use a script to simulate someone clicking your link on their site so it shows up in your logs. It's to trick people in to visiting, and some sites publish their logs so these sites get backlinks from it.

If you get google bowled to the point where it does end up hurting you, there's not much you can do but wait and build more reputable links. Eventually you might get your traffic back.
