    Hello,
When I inserted description meta tags in my Blogger template, I noticed that Google used the same description for all my pages in the search results!

Is there a way to insert specific description meta tags in every post?

I don't think so it can be possible, Google takes your blog description to your all the inner pages and I think there is an only way which can help you, if you want to change your description on your all the internal pages then remove des from your blogs in that case google takes 1st 2 lines from your post and you can add your description in your top of the post,

    Hope this will help you

Your better off just getting your own hosting service and using wordpress or another blogging format. You can do it for as low as $2.95\mo USD with some providers if not lower! You'll have more control and access over your blog and can optimize it much better. Just my 2 cents....

I've gotta ask - if you need to ask how to insert meta tags in blog posts, why the hell are you writing a blog about search engine optimisation?

Not possible to add a description you choose, but you can have it so it uses your blog name, title of a post and/or the blogs tagline.

View source of http://submeat.blogspot.com/2002/08/top-30-hits-of-1960.html to see the meta description and meta keywords tag is a copy of the title of the post.

You can achieve this with code like-

    <MainOrArchivePage><$BlogPageTitle$></MainOrArchivePage>

Think that will do for archive pages, would have to look up the code for the single post pages, something like <itempage></itempage> if I recall correctly.

When used with the original Blogspot themes code will show what's between those tags on single post pages only. This only works with the classic theme code.

Used this sort of coding on my Blogspot SEO/AdSense themes http://www.google-adsense-templates.co.uk/tag/blogspot-templates but only made 2 as I don't have much use for them now (I only optimise themes I'm going to use myself and use WordPress for important sites).

Well its simple, My Blog is not about me being an expert in SEO,
Its about sharing the things I am learning about SEO, and the results that I get through different actions...its like a sketch book of my learning.

I think it's not possible if you use blogspot paltform. That's only applicable in your own domain name not just in free one.

Thanks SEO-Expert for your tips, but when I tried the above code I realised that it took automatically my Blog post title and inserted it into my title , description and keywords meta tags.
Well I prefer to leave my chosen keywords the way they are!!
Thanks anyway, I appreciate your help.

Yep, that's the closest you can get to custom meta tags with Blogspot, you can't have actual custom meta tags, it has to be automated.
