I haven't heard of them but $1.99 domain names is possible and trustable, there are even free ones from the likes of register.com which is a very established registrar. $1.99 domains also sprang out once in a while from similarly reputed registrars. Maybe you should wait for these?

Not saying that the 3 you are listed aren't good just that I have never hear of them before. Maybe other members can shed some light, though $1.99 domains are definitely possible.

Ok thanks a lot. I'm planning to launch my site somewhere in the comming week, so if there wouldn't be any other offers from smilarly reputed registrars in the comming week, then I think I'll go for one of those that I've listed. Gotta find out which is the most trustable of those then, and which I can use on another hosting too.

I've never heard of those companies before. I'd suggest sticking with a reputable company that's cheap like Name.com

register.com is offering free domain, but you will need to transfer out before the year is over unless you want to pay the US$35/year renewal fees. I had a domain from them. Transfer is a bit of a hassle, you need to call them up for the auth code, but I did and finally manage to tranfer out my free domain.

Ah ok, well, I don't really mind paying only some dollars for the domain without having the hassle. So I think I'll go either for Name.com (trustable I expect?) or one of mine if I can figure out whether they're trustable or not.

And if I buy a domain from Name.com, my contact info (name, personal info, etc.) will be hidden anywhere right? And I'll be able to use the domain on any host? (Also looking for a cheap and trustable host (wouldn't need so much webspace), any ideas/suggestions?)

Ok thanks guys, I think I'll go for a Name.com domain. Now the only thing I need yet, is a free/cheap, decent webhosting (webspace isn't so much needed, especially bandwith will be required).

There are tons of such web hosting, lunarpages, hostgator, brinkster etc, you shouldn't have problem finding those.

I agree. You can never trust companies who haven't been heard of.

.Infos are less than $2 for 1st year with many registrars. Even it's $2.19 in most famous GoDaddy.Com with a promo code. I would suggest u to check for other cheap .info offers.

Most of the $1.99 domain offers I've seen are offered as incentive to buy their hosting, otherwise the domain is regularly priced. :p

.info is INR 80 (app. $1.85) under promo scheme - no strings attached. You can book your domain and change the nameservers to your hosting company's.

Promo is ending on June 27th.

My host offers free lifetime registration for your primary domain, and huge resources at $5.95/month. You can see my review of their green hosting plan here.
Additional domains there are very pricey, so my add-ons are hosted with Namecheap, $8.50/year per reg, and worth every penny for the customer care I received.
If your names are important to you, stay away from unknown domain reggers.
