I'll take good SERP's over high PR any day. All you can do with high PR is sell links, get penalized, lose PR. Good SERP's are invaluable.

It makes no difference on how you come up in search results.

So PR is the heart of google software for ranking. I hope you understand what ranking means. I would say PR is pretty important and not just for selling links

 

That's not true as Matt Cutts said in his blog that Page Rank is only 1 of about 100 things they use to value a page. The other 99 are probably links

 

If you are going to use a direct quote, please provide a source which includes a date. In this case, the date is critical since the Google document you reference is speaking of the "original" PR formula back when they were at Stanford. That was was what, a decade ago?

As for that 1 out of 100 that someone else is talking about.

Sure it is 1 of 100 things google uses to determine ranking but what weight PR gets in final calculation ? I am sure pretty good weight Matt Cutts also told you not to sell links...

 

Definitely PR is one of the 100 factors that influence SERP.

Pagerank is only part of the equation.

my point exactly. PR + knowing what you are doing = awesome rankings.

quick question for anyone thinking PR can't help with rankings? why exactly do you think Google are trying to prevent people selling it via text links then?
