I'm not familiar with Board applications, but as long as you could determine which php file to modify (add the script), I can't see why it wouldn't work. It all revolves around php sessions.

How were you thinking of doing this ... have the gateway popup whenever someone tried to enter a forum? Or specific forum?

This tweak isn't working for Image2 image gallery... Soon as I put the code you said, with or without the zango code, The page gets borked and nothing displays... If I put the zango code by itself, it works, but without the tweak

If the zango code by itself works ... but the page gets screwed when you include the surrounding "tweak" code ... then either the code hasn't been copied correctly, or more likely there is something else nearby that is breaking the code.

I know that probably isn't very helpful, but that is all I can really come up with. I know that many people have copied the code and got it working on their website, that is why I'm thinking it is one of the two issues that I mentioned.

Is the Zango gateway actually a true secure gateway? It seems it is not. If you happen to click NO to install zango, it still permits you to access the content - I have seen this on many sites.

Is there someway to redirect the surfer they fail to install the adware?

There are 2 types of zango gateways. The one you are describing ... the one where the user can click NO but still access the content ... is called a "pop-over gateway". It is designed to do exactly as you describe. Many people, including myself, see much higher install ratios using this type of gateway. I believe this is partially due to the fact that a small window pops-up over the content ... the content is visible behind the window. At this time the code to implement this type of gateway must be requested from your account manager, you cannot generate it yourself.

The other type of gateway is just the regular gateway. This is a full-page that the visitor sees before the content is displayed. Here, if the visitor clicks NO to install the zango toolbar, then they cannot get to the content. This type of gateway can be created/customized by the zango affiliate from the zango website.

I know of no way to redirect the visitor if they fail to install the toolbar.

No, this is NOT against Zango's terms. I'm not doing anything except changing the frequency of the gateway.

I don't know that I've ever seen Zango on a free domain (ie; Blogspot).

Anyway, that would be a VERY BAD idea. How would you feel if you built a successful zango website ... making hundreds of dollars a day ... on a domain that you do not own, only to have the owner (Google - Blogspot) take away your website because one of their Bots incorrectly identified it as SPAM or SPLOG?

Don't think this doesn't happen because it does. And I know because it has happened to me.

Do yourself a favor and purchase a cheap domain and hosting account. If you choose to go through Godaddy there are coupon codes you can find here at Digital Point.

As far as what I make .. it's approximately $500/day. This is from the accumulation of several websites. I use zango in different niches so I get completely different and non-competing traffic. It's easier if you already have a website that gets good traffic ... then you just monetize it with zango. However, I've built most of my zango sites from the ground-up, so I know it can be done.

I made $600 last month (since I am using it). ZangoCash is allowed only on top level domains. This question is repeated. :) Yes, you get paid even if you are outside US, but installs from US visitors on your site pay more. Yes, I can help you earn money, if you signup under me (sig link).

Yes, you can do that via cookies:
    http://www.w3schools.com/PHP/php_cookies.asp

For example, set a cookie on the users computer with the current time and make it valid for 1 year. Then each time read the cookie and see if it's older than 2 hours (it means the visitors haven't seen the gateway for the last 2 hours at least). If it is, show the gateway and set the cookie's time to the current time (this will repeat the process the next time the visitor comes to the site).

But, I can't seem to find a point in showing the gateway every 2 hours, since it is a one time install and not a repetitive advertisement...

    thnx mrgee!

and you were right that there is normally no point in doing that with the normal gateway, but I think it could be an option for the popup-gateway, so it will be not so much annoying to the users (just want to test stuff). On the other hand it could be less effective, because one way to get the users to install zango, is to annoying them with it.
But my thought was that the users who acctually did install zango, did it because they didn't really understand the popup-gateway (that they just could click "cancel" to access the content), so to get this installs it would be enough to show it just once/ in a while (because they install it on the first popup-gateway) and the other users would get less annoyed by the popup-gateway because it's just once/ in a while.

so, i want to test showing it just 1 time per user, and then never again (if they have the cookie).

what do you guys think about it?

Yeah, it wasn't working on my side when I first used it either, so I re-writed the code and got it to work, but using cookies and not session.

However, it may have been my browsers fault. Try to refresh the page and the cached version at the same time, by pressing CTRL+F5 at the same time (this will re-download and re-display the updated page from the server).
