Beginning Affilliate Marketers Adwords Budget?

For PPC Affiliate Marketing with direct linking, what is a good budget to start off with and how much should you spend before you can expect to start making a positive ROI? For anyone who does direct linking affiliate marketing, how much did you spend before you saw any sales and how much did you spend before your ROI became positive? I finally started making some sales after spending a ton of money on Ad Words but am still a long way off from even breaking even, let alone turning a positive ROI.

    Thanks

By "direct linking", I assume you mean linking directly to your affiliate offer through your AdWords ad. This is never a good idea. First of all, I think Google frowns on it. Secondly, you are paying hard money for these people to become your customers, not your affiliate programs customers. Offer them something unique. Get them to sign up for a newsletter or "free gift". Don't just pass them on to your affiliate program and expect to make money. It just doesn't work like that.

direct linking strategy is a tuff one to turn a profit on. It could cost you thousands before you find an effective way of doing things. There is no set time limit or how much to spend. It all depends on your learning curve and the offers your trying to promote along with the keywords your attempting to use.

I myself have done this , and it wasn't that bad. I spent around 15 dollars and had a 47.50 income, this was high paying though. 15.75 each. Is this against google's TOS?

from my understanding its not against googles TOS, but robert is right over the long term its pretty hard to turn a profit from this as you are getting zero organic (free) traffic so your ads better convert or you going to be paying a ton.
