I use Vista on my pc currently, went through Leopard on it, so far haven't experienced any issues with Vista lately, but i remember when I was first used it did have tons of issues. I've got a macbook and use Leopard on it, I like both Operating Systems, they do the job. For me If it was two years ago I couldn't go without Windows, because support with games and 3ds max, it really depends on what you do, if your a designer like myself then you can use Mac OS or Vista/XP, I have no clue why some people choose to install Linux, not that it isn't a stable operating system, virus free as I know but I personally don't think its practical, unless all you do is surf & msn, I know there is support for some games but your limited to nearly everything, its worse then Leopards limitations, but thats just me. All in all, I can't say what the worst OS is, they all have there ups and downs, but if it came down to it, one OS that I wouldn't ever use is Linux, because of limited support with applications.
Count me in as one of the few people who actually like vista. As far as I can tell vista's performance is based a lot on how powerful the computer is its running on. I just got a new dell, 2.4 quad 4 GB ram w/ vista business and its running perfect. Of course when I started it up it had something like 30 updates to download. It's an overall great improvement in my opinion, but it requires more power than lots of PCs have.
Vista on my computer works perfectly fine. Most of the applications work. I've got Dual Core processor with 2GB of RAM and Vista doesn't take up THAT much. And why do you have 100 processes running? I've only got like 61. I think you should check out your PC cause there's something definitely wrong with it.
Almost every worthy Windows application has a Linux equivalent or is cross platform. Plus, you could always run Windows apps in Linux under Wine!
May run like a dream with nothing on the computer, vista eats 1 gb of ram alone, so when you have some heavy programs running, you'll bump into problems.
I'm using vista and love it. I've got the home basic on my laptop with 2GB of ram, and have no problems using it and photoshop at the same time. Got the ultimate edition on my PC and run tons of apps all at once with no problems too!
re:"I just got this beefed up computer a few days ago. It is amazing, except that it got a fule flaw. It has windows vista!" When I saw the title of this thread I automatically thought, "Vista!". And...well...sure enough...lol
Using Core 2 Quad on Windows XP makes your computer runs a lot slower than dualcore and core2 duo. The only thing I like in vista is the security. You can even format your HD without deleting a single file.
Yep, Vista is pretty bad, I'm sticking with XP for as long as possible. http://thegooglehouse.blogspot.com
XP is the best why? because unlike other OS, it allows me to work conveniently and earn money it's far from perfect but certainly the most convenient OS due to wide compatibility with many softwares
