    The secret is to get as many quality backlinks pinting to your page(s). But everyone knows that, so there's no secret.

    I pretty much agree that there really aren't any secrets. There is hard work and persistence.

    If there are any secrets - they are going to remain secrets. I know that if I really knew something that worked I would keep it close to the vest.

    You can learn how to be more effective but I don't think there is a magic bullet.

    Imo, it's just quality content. Good content is a magnet for good backlinks, and backlinks won't really help if your content sucks, since you will only be getting the links from other sucky websites.

    Backlinks are everything. Quality content gets people to come back but as long as content is unique google don't care about the quality:)

    I agree with content and links, but I am not convinced about fresh content. Everywhere we are told "Google loves fresh content" but in reality many high ranking sites are those which have remained static for years.
