Hard work and dedication. The hardest part seems to be generating traffic. Your website has to also reach a niche market. One thing I did was to sign up for Yahoo Search Marketing and do some keyword searches to see what the most searched keywords were. As soon as I knew there was traffic then I could go ahead and go forth with a site.
Just about all new websites must age a bit before they become productive. Some people say 6 months others say 2 years, guess it all depends on how hard you work at getting traffic.
