I couldn't figure out why our site was getting all this traffic for a keyword, yet the site was nowhere to be found on any Google.com datacenter???? Finally someone here posted a link to this tool, so I put the kw in there and found out that we come up #3 on Google.ca! Google Analytics seems to bunch all the different country's Googles into the same traffic!!! Hope this helps others,
I dont think it is a very good tool You are not allowed to run automated quiries on google servers very soon google will ban your IP.
I have used this tool before for other things, but not this exact purpose. Nice find, especially because I ran into a similar problem with analytics reporting myself in the past week even. I had a problem with one of my websites where I was getting a huge amount of traffic coming out of nowhere. When I started to look into my visitor info, it turned out not much of it was coming from the USA. I mean I do run the site on the "World Wide Web", but it scared me to see the traffic was not from the USA. It ended up being mostly from the UK when I checked further into the Country info in Analytics. It is puzzling because many of those were for my domain name itself, so they must have seen or been to the site before. Oddly enough, about a week or so later, I have not a quarter as much traffic... I hope the traffic comes back because it really got me excited about the site and kept me focused. It's a fairly unique Drupal project as far as I know, so I am trying to do it the best I know how.
This is truly great tool, thanks for sharing it. I never knew what the keyword popularity was for my targeted keywords on the data centers outside .com and .ca
You're not a true SEOer if you don't get your IP banned every once in a while. Btw, the tool is very picky about whether or not the url uses a www. or not, just fyi.
For google.com it use google API to search. For every other country like google.ca or google.co.uk it use google web search. API rankings are mostly different than web search rankings.
Nice sharing. I read the thread several times and checked my site traffic these days. Now I finally understand the relationship. I only can say the tool even a lots better than Google its own webmaster tools.
