Lol, yeah they are definitely keeping it beta for PR purposes. This way if anything ever happens, they can say that it was still a beta, and things happen to betas, it is to be expected. Wtvr though, it is still a good free service that I have been happy with over the years
I agree, they just don't want to get blamed when something happens... errors are expected and accepted in beta.
Gmail works nicely for me so even if it's still beta I don't care. Seems to me the "beta" thing is just part of Web 2.0
Frankly I do not care about whether it is beta or not given that even at this "beta" stage it beats its nearest competitors by a mile. Maybe Google has more plans for Gmail and hence the beta. Whatever it is, it doesn't affect us and I do not see why the big fuss over this.
