PR8 directory whois is protected, i am really wondering who the owner is, thanks god it's not a member here~!
Where did you get that one from? Any links on that one? Or you saw someone actually making a bid for position directory from a fake pr / dropped domain?
Ahh, so that's how they do it - they buy a damn domain So they aren't self-made successes then hehehe. Or maybe they bought a ton of links like Bluefind did.
Hehe, they've been doing it for years. I was one of the first to do it, a great money maker. I soon learnt ethics was better than the money....
I think it is on directorycritic and here is the URL of the famous dropped domain: mpiperu.com. The directory is a standard one, old phpLd version, basic theme... QBC PS: I wonder why these kind of crap directories are accepted on Directory Critic. Like I saw on someone's sig here : The 99% of the sites you reject makes the quality of a directory and not the 1% you accept.
it was something else until at least June of 07 according to web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.mpiperu.com can't read it as in spanish when you look at the different pages Registrant: Harris H. 94/6 moo 9. Ramindra 83 Ramindra Rd. Bangkok, Bangkok 10230 Thailand Domain Name: MPIPERU.COM Created on: 04-May-05 Expires on: 04-May-09 Last Updated on: 16-Jun-08 also saw this on whois "Harris H." owns about 124 other domains
I think i know where you read that, On topic, re dropped domains, it has always happened but latley thee are popping up daily, so my guess is some one is out there flogging a dead dream to un suspecting players. I see things like my brand new PR4 directory, My valid PR5 new directory and on it goes. It is these things that affect the whole PR thing with directories as these cowboys come in with all guns blazing and probably why most established directory owners steer away from PR as not to be associated with these QBC cowboys. The funniest thing is these high PR dropped directory owners are the first ones to come in here and ask, how do i promote a directory, what should i charge and every other nuf question there is.
Because they approve anything that links back to them. Their own directory does not review sites.... This is why I like the vilesilencer list - it actually reviews its directories.
"famous dropped domain: mpiperu.com" Sorry if this is a silly question- What make that a dropped domain? I see PR8 on my toolbar. I would think that a dropped domain would be PR0, no?
because it was something else until at least June of 07 according to web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.mpiperu.com and then someone bought it or decided to put a directory on it
Actually what he means that you can submit for $3, but whether it is approved or not can be a different matter
Let's not forget the first directory on this page www.directorycritic.com/bidding-directory-list.html?sort=pr&pg= Ultimate case of fake PR and they have been able to manage the PR that way for a long time now.
no matter any directory list, imo you are necessary to select by yourself. @jitendraag, it's really not fair for us who don't play the pr trick.
@WallaceYoung: I am not a PR fan myself but you have to accept that 'higher PR makes selling website/domain/articles/links easy !!' I use other parameters like pages indexed and backlinks in yahoo to see if directory is promoted correctly.
The site was redirecting to : http://www.google.com.pe/ which is Gaygle's Search for Peru. I simple info can tell you this. Man, where are the brains of the web master world these days. *sigh*
