Social -- By the people, for the people and from the people ..

    Classic example www.Digg.com

Here's what happens in Social bookmarking...

Lets, say you have written a post/come across a post, which you think is worth being mentioned around...

You go to sites like (These are some of my favorites which help me spread the word ):
    1> www.Digg.com
    2> www.bukmark.net
3> www.Indianpad.com (you need to be registered prior to posting in most of these sites :))

Please note: Here is very good list of Social Bookmarking sites you can benefit from

And promote the interesting content you've stumbled across. If others think that your post is worth being spread, they'll give a thumbs up and soon the viral effect kicks in.

    Benefits:
1> You get loads of traffic
2> Some Social Bookmarking sites pass link backs too ;).

    /G

PS: A search on this forum will give more info :).

Social bookmarking is a method for Internet users to store, organize, search, and manage bookmarks of web pages on the Internet with the help of metadata.

In a social bookmarking system, users save links to web pages that they want to remember and/or share. These bookmarks are usually public, and can be saved privately, shared only with specified people or groups, shared only inside certain networks, or another combination of public and private domains. The allowed people can usually view these bookmarks chronologically, by category or tags, or via a search engine.
