Prior to my joining a particular record label (handling digital marketing), they were selling baby 'lullabies cds' from site A 'babyrockrecords.com' site has Zero P.R., and despite this is #3 result for the above search term. They have been redirecting to site B 'rockabyebabymusic.com', which has P.R. of 4. The site is a mess from an SEO perspective, no text, all images... designed soley graphic designers. That will change soon. What is the best way to 'migrate' Google's indexing of site A on 'lullabies cds' to site B?
Once site B is ready, remove all the pages on site A and use a permanent 301 redirect. I'm assuming the site will have a major overhaul. If it does, the rankings will drop for a bit but should recover quickly. Try to utilize the existing internal linking structure as well. Good luck
Thank you, Snowbird ! Site B (rockabyebabymusic.com) is live, but yes we will be migrating it to a Joomla CMS based site.
If both site A and B are live, just make sure the content is unique on each site. If you copy pages from live site A and place identical pages on live site B, you may run into duplicate content issues. But from the sounds of it, site B will be totally unique. Therefore there's probably little chance for any problems. Best wishes with your project.
I Totally agree with the above, it might take a while to pass the full value but it works. How ever you can ask all the webmaster links to your website to link to the new location.
