1) How does wikipedia and other sites get their search box the google search results page? Search "wikipedia" on google.com and you'll see the "Search wikipedia.org" button. I've noticed this search bar for a few other sites. 2) How do some sites get their information within minutes or hours on google? Like when you add an article or make a forum post and you search for it on google, you will see your post with "15 minutes ago" or "4 hours ago" Thanks for the clarification. Cheers
1) You should first have an adsense account and then you can implement a site specific google search bar for your site anywhere on your page. Or you may not need an adsense search bar but still can add one of these to your site. Google search is a life saver for busy sites cause' it significantly reduces server load and at the same time improves accuracy and relevancy of the search. 2) That's because they are linked from by really powerful sites. Any new site would definitely be in google index within hours or even minutes if they are linked by, say, the homepage of DP or any popular section of CNN and such.
There is probably information about the search box that shows below the search results of some sites at Google.com, As for, how do you get one? Mate I can only guess. I would guess that it is automaticly assigned (like sitelinks), but the search box is given to authority sites like Wiki. I would also think that having a site search box in your website and having site search tracking enabled in Google Analytics may help that automatic assignment, but I am not sure. Getting sites indexed quickly!? well one of my sites is around 18 months old and still does not have all pages indexed, so I have no idea Cheers James
Oooopsie, sorry. I believe it's anything but what anyone here can get? Really authoritative sites get things like that.
