I've tried to get sites into DMOZ for almost three years! My sites are legit. I've submitted only a few of them, spaced out. Never repeating submissions within a 6 month period, yet still I can't get my site in. All the content on my sites is original, the designs are good. I even have some sites that are top search results in Google for huge keywords, yet I can't get into DMOZ. What i gotta do? Patience is a virtue, but come on.
Hey, just for kicks, what does any of that have to do with an editor building a category of useful sites, with unique content, for the use of web surfers looking for specific information about a topic or geographic area?
i think you should go back and look your site, it must be good enought to be listed. i mean your site have to be unique content. some thing like that.
Hey, as per the my knowledge Dmoz did not update his database since last 2 years. a 2 year ago dmoz had a problems in their sever and they stop their service for more than 3 months and after getting back the site live they was not updating their databased yet. regards chirag http://www.directtoindia.com
What a load of rubbish. Where did you get that kind of crap from? More than 2000 new sites gets added to DMOZ every week.
I have had the same problem. I have a PR3 and PR5 site with valuable unique content and all backlinks are naturally occurring (unsolicited). Two posts on the site even sat on the front page of Digg for a day. After 1.5 years, my sites are still not in DMOZ. I have no idea what the problem is. It's too bad there isn't a close alternative to DMOZ.
PR is inconsequential to a listing in DMOZ. The editors don't care or even usually look at rankings when evaluating a listing. It means nothing. On the flip side, if you already have a PR3 and PR5 you must be doing a lot right so why would a DMOZ listing matter anyway? You wouldn't get much of, if any boost in ranking just because of it. And not being listed isn't going to hamper you any. There are plenty of good alternatives to DMOZ around. Really all it takes is getting quality links for you and it sounds as if you are well on your way to getting a good collection already without DMOZ.
if DMOz add more than 2000 sites every week so why ppl facing problems for getting their site listed on dmoz.
My site is less then a year old and is in DMOZ http://www.dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/Internet_Fax/ Last one listed (internetfaxreview.com) it's also in my sig. As for how I did, I just submitted and forgot about it. Thats all you can do, it's been a pretty big boost for backlinks so im happy but I mean if it didnt happen I would have just went on building backlinks anyways. dont worry about it to much, you'll get there when you get there.
Two reasons: 1. DMOZ is not a listing service for webmasters 2. More than 2000 new sites that are probably listable are created each week.
Please tell us how you got access to the logs to know that or are you just making it up (ie telling a lie)? I would love to see the visitor logs. PLEASE give us the detail.
To my knowledge only staff can access the logs. While I don't recall ever seeing specifics published by them, they did blog about the directories visitation in their Who knew? article. They listed visitations in one month from over 200 countries, so there were at least 200 visitors in one month then or the same guy doing a lot of traveling.
What problem is that exactly? The previous poster is obviously working against themselves, as any resuggestions of the same or related URL's is going to only slow down any review time by overwriting previous suggestions. SERP's and keywords are fortunately irrelevant to DMOZ. There is nothing to wait for, once you have suggested your URL its all you have or need to do. You shouldn't be waiting on anything, carry on with business as usual and promote your sites using whatever promotional strategies you have at your disposal. Build the sites for your customers and I bet you will find a dmoz listing unnecessary. Sit around and wait for DMOZ to cause money to fall from the sky and I bet you end up frustrated, even if the listing occurs.
Wow, i had a blog about 3 months ago that was 1 month old and it got in dmoz within 2 weeks. Why dosent it take so long for others?
