The plugins and themes will be updated quickly if the developer isn't lazy. :p

I'm on Firefox 3 Final right now and it's great. I've used it since beta 2. It's been completely stable for me and for all of you wanting addons to work, they will most likely work if you turn off compatibility checking.
    1. Go to about:config in your address bar
    2. Right click and choose "New --> Boolean"
    3. Type in "extensions.checkCompatibility" as the name and set it as false
    Code (markup):
For me, it worked for everything but the theme. Enjoy :)

I had that same problem running on a Vista system. I still prefer using my own browser.. I was expecting a little more from the Firefox upgrade... I didn't like it. It wasn't effective enough on any of my platforms.. I guess it'll get better... ..for now its a little too broken so I'm blacklisting it for at least a quarter..

Everything went smoothly with my installation of Firefox 3 up until now.
    FF3 seems faster than FF2 :)

Five hours after Mozilla officially released Firefox 3.0, researchers found a vulnerability in the new browser.

Tipping Point ranked the severity of the vulnerability as high, but said that users would have to click on a link in an e-mail or visit a malicious Web page before being affected. The issue affects users of Firefox 3.0 as well as Firefox 2.0.

I really dislike it too.. Already added an addon so the url bar goes back to normal.
I can't surf the net anymore, it crashes constantly and I'm almost getting used to restarting it every minute. The only good thing is that when it crashes, the previous session gets restored.

I have to say Firefox 3.0 seems faster than 2.0 to me (I'm on Linux though).

I think what's new about memory management is that Firefox 3 is releasing unused memory much better than Firefox 2. I usually have Firefox opened whole day and with Firefox 2 the memory usage just kept on growing. And I believe Firefox 3 is, among other improvements, now setup to release unused memory after 30 minutes so you may have to wait a bit before noticing a difference in memory usage.

I agree. The only thing that bothered me so far was importing a quite large collection of bookmarks (actually, it's only a couple of MBs but I don't have anybody to compare it with) - Firefox got really slow and once choke to the death as I tried drag 'n' dropping one huge bookmarks folder...

Sure. Just go to Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks and then in the toolbar you'll find a menu with Import HTML and then in your profile folder find the bookmarks.html file - that's the one you have to import.

It may be OK for you but I would strongly suggest against this, or at least warn people that a whole lot of things could go wrong like this. If you want to test your extensions that are still not supported by Firefox 3, then you can take the route of changing the max. version value in extensions's install.rdf file (download the extension with "Save link as", then change that file inside and then open the extension file from Firefox) - but going one by one will be much safer because you'll know when one extension misbehaves and you'll be able to disable it...

Well, it's true that Firefox can be highly unstable browser if you load it with a bunch of addons. So be careful with those. However, the good news is that they changed something in the engine of Firefox 3 which could make this situation better in the future. Funny, addons are regarded also as one of the strenghts of the Firefox :D

The only thing I have to say I didn't like about Firefox 3 is it's ugliness in Linux under KDE - like the UI wasn't finished, but I don't hear people complaining about it which could suggest that it's caused due to my system setup... but I already installed another theme so I'm OK now :)

    OMG, a long post...
    Cheers!

BTW, I actually like the "Awesome" bar so far. It does take a bit of time to get used to it but for example I'm much quicker at accessing some long URLs I already visited some time ago - I simply start entering the title of the page I remember instead of that long URL - great!
