There's a good blog post at Compete with current SE marketshare stats. Google was the only search engine to see their marketshare grow in May. All the other search engines lost marketshare.

Here's the most current marketshare stats (May 2008):

    Google: 71.5%
    Yahoo: 13.3%
    Live/MSN: 10.6%
    Ask: 3%
    AOL: 1.2%

With Yahoo joining the Adsense , it should be 84.8% a near monopoly with MSN being a distanced second.

The fact is that Google is the best at search and Microsoft should not even try to fight it for market share in the search field since it is unbeatable these stats prove just that!

Google is the king of search.................

Nothing is unbeatable, nothing is invincible and nothing is forever. It just take a bright spark to create an idea and an entrepreneur willing to risk going forward. Who knows another Google may be born.

Or Microsoft can get its act together, Google will face some strong challenges.
