Mass E-mailing - Does it Work Anymore?

Discussion in 'General Marketing' started by Ascendancy, Jun 17, 2008.

I was wondering if bulk e-mailing multiple e-mails still works in getting traffic? users are bound to click the links you send through the e-mail, and some may end up liking the site or clicking an ad or two (that's my opinion anyways). However, since I haven't tried this yet, I was wondering if anybody knows if this tactic still works successfully?

I doubt it worked at all if it can come through, most of the ISPs now uses grey listing or tar pitting. Not to mention that unsolicited emails is so frown upon, I doubt many will even bother to read before trashing. You will also find a lot of complaints to Spamcop and the likes.

No point doing so nowadays, your account may even be banned.

Opt-in email advertising is still cost effective especially when the service has geo/niche target option. Absolutely no spam.

Frankly there are very few real opt in email lists. Most of the so call opt in are purchase from vendors with the victims opting in only for that vendor's newsletters. But these are sold everywhere as opt in. If there is a real opt in email list, of course that is fine. Otherwise purchasing others' opt in list is as good as spamming directly.

Mass mailing works.. If u can deliver a well crafted email straight into the inbox, u'll get good results even if u r mailing on a multiple times sold mailing list. I m telling this from my personal experience.

If the vendors sold the email list to a third-party it's definitely illegal. Don't they have a privacy policy at the first place? I might be ignorant in this industry but i have 2,000+ opt-in members on my site and i will never sell their emails list...

Spamming don't work and you end up being banned by your ISP and hosting provider. Also the reputation of your company is at stake.

I've had luck with opt-in stuff, but I've never tried spamming.

It must work to a degree... but I don't think its a way to promote a reputable online brand.

    Pass.

Effective newsletter or mailing list management is still the number one marketing option. Too many people spam, sell or buy lists, making it harder for legitimate emails. As with each SPAM cycle, the ISPs have to find more effective anti-spam methods to prevent SPAM and more punitive actions to deter spammers.

However, newsletters are essential to customer retention and must be encouraged. If you manage mailing lists, let the subscribers decide what products or services they wish to have, even if they are all your clients.

It is SPAMming that is counter productive. Not effective communication to your clients.

I've paid for "opt-in qualified" lists. A total waste of money. The only good list is your own (customers).

You can start building your email opt-in list today. You will need to learn just how to work at doing this. We have clients doing it everyday. Of course your list will start out small but we have built a step by step prcess that teaches you how to start today and have your first 200 opt-in email contact in under two weeks and then begin building on your list from there and in 1 to 2 months depending on effort you apply you should have your first 1 to 2000 opt-in contacts.

Here is the Email Marketing Education and Training Center if you would like to learn the process http://www.vipermailer.com/education/education_topic.aspx?topicID=7

There is and additional 18 steps to get you branded, trusted, links clicked, etc.
