Ok...I have a brand new site that I am introducing. This site has already gotten a ton of traffic and I need a headline that is going to grab attention, introducing the blog. How do I go about creating a headline that will introduce the blog in a creative way? It is a celebrity gossip site. Here is what I have; Celebrityviplounge.com Blog is the Place to Find Celebrity Gossip Ummm, boring.
Well, start by asking yourself: 1. Who is my target audience. 2. What is the site about (1-2 sentences). 3. What do I really want to say to people when they come? This can be a couple of sentences. From there, you'll work it down to one master headline. 4. What's the one thing that's vital for my headline? For instance, it might be "free" or "celeb" or "gossip" or "My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father prepare to die..." And don't try to be creative for creativity's sake. This gets a lot of people in trouble. Keep it simple to start with and go from there. Blah.com - THE Celebrity Gossip Blog When working with headlines, write down every idea you have--even the stupid ones--and NEVER, NEVER edit. Example: Blah.com - Celebs & Gossip Blah.com - The Dish on Celebs Blah.com - Celeb Blogger Blah.com - Inside Scoop on Celebs Gossip in Hollywood And so on. Don't be shy about it. Start the ball rolling and keep going until you have a list. Walk away for a bit and come back to see what jumps out. You may even mix and match from the list you've created.

I should have mentioned this is for a press release. here is my site http://www.celebrityviplounge.com So, I am looking for the opening Headline that will determine whether or not the press will continue to read the release or not.
Aha! It's for a press release. I suggest instead of trying to be creative, you strive to: -- Make your release headline SEO keyword rich. -- Ditto for your subhead. For example, if your keywords are: -- celebrities -- movies -- actress -- films -- Hollywood -- gossip -- sex -- rumors -- couples -- fashion -- papparazzi ... Then write a headine using half of those words; then write a subtitle using the other half. Only after the keywords in place would I try to tweak it to get creative. Something like: "Hot Gossip Blog Dishes the Latest Celebrity Sex Rumors and Secret Papparazzi Photos, from Hollywood to New York to Miami" "CELEBRITYVIPLOUNGE.COM Debuts with Scoop On Stars Ranging from Britney Spears and Kim Kardashian to Usher and Justin Timberlake -- Including Fashion Dont's, Dating News and More." Those are kind of wordy and "throwed," but hopefully they'll give you some ideas! Good luck,
LOL. Yeah, that makes a huge difference. The press isn't going to bother with anything that isn't newsworthy. So, you can throw out a KW-stuffed headline, but it's just going to be deleted. You'll still get listed on the release service's site and scrappers though. Before writing this headline, you need to answer two questions: 1. Why exactly are you doing a press release. 2. What makes it newsworthy? (1-2 sentences) Once you've done that, you can think about the headline. Just saying that you have a new site, unless you're know, isn't newsworthy. It's fine to put out there though, but don't expect the media to care. Just do it for some links and to have on record. And write to your audience, the press. Good luck.
PS You probably already know that established media won't write a story about a new blog. I assume your goal is to continue building traffic, subscribers, a following, and greater awareness as a brand. The best way to get more people on-site is to use an SEO headline for your press release. This way, people searching for the kind of info you have will find you through Google-friendly sites you upload your release to. Publicists have tossed that 'old school' model of catering to the media. The SEO press release that get to READERS and builds traffic is where it's at. Because the media is too picky and the Internet allows us to go around them and get directly to the target audience. (And the media may report down the line once you have momentum.) Wow, thanks for the pointers everyone....definitely things I haven't thought about and a different way of looking at a press release. I am definitely looking to increase traffic and more back links. I will try to reword the title including some of those keywords.
I suggest to pick the best keyword that has high searches with low competitors and embed it in your title. This also help your site.
Ok My 2 cents for it! Celebrating Life - VIP lounge for VIP thoughts! Gossips - Does matters sometimes! We Listen and we Talk - the VIP way! We Listen and we Talk - the Celebrity way! Hope it helps!!
My thoughts... people who read celebrity gossip - love gossips and trashy stuff - I think you can get great ideas and headlines from the celeb magazines and other "aliens land on earth" magazines...
How long has your site been up? The press release should be very newsworthy for media practitioners to read it. It's like saying --- what does your blog have that others don't?
