I use Windows Defender in Vista because it's built in, so it works faster than others with real-time protection activated.
    And no AV :)

How much of a slow down does Kaspersky cause the system?

The free one by AVG is great, and running it along side a outdated version of Norton is always good. =P

I just installed the new AVG to see what it's like and I think it's awful.
I'll be heading back to AntiVir soon, it's still the best by miles.

And as for Norton, don't get me started on that pile of crap...

i think panda antivirus is the best. i made some tests with some keyloggers and most of the avs didn`t recognise the infected files. i even tested with norton full update and found nothing. the only ones that discovered the files were panda and mcaffe but the last one has to be updated to do this.

the bad thing is that panda is using to much resources. i`ve tested on a 2 Gb ram pc and 3Ghz proccesor and it really slows down the pc.

I'm using Comodo antivirus which is free and pretty good. They have a free firewall as well as backup, anti-malware, etc... ;) Check it out ->http://www.comodo.com

Just bought Kaspersky - it seemed to have the best reviews - so far so good - I like it :)

I ran into some issues with McAfee - did not have a great experience with them -

I was with the opinion that Kaspersky is slowing down my computer in the past (and it really was slowing it, but I had only 128 RAM and 1Ghz processor power back then), so I was using Nod32, but after I bought my new computer and switched to Kaspersky I was reborned. It is so much more effective than the others and so light (with my current configuration).

Really, it doesn't even slow my computer a little, while providing the perfect professional protection I need...
