How hurted I was when I know our site's PR down from 2 to 1 in latest updata of PR. But now I just look it us a joke! because of this: After down my PR the SERPs of ours website had no change if no better. And the bigger thing is this ,our homepage:http://www.chipshow.com only PR=1 , but a dead page http://www.chipshow.net/test/index.html has PR=3, and actually whole of our site have no link to this page. And so many common thing in this page ,It's just a test, Maybe this only thing is this this page had passed W3C. Reasonable? impossibility!!!

ok then happy with PR 0. PR is good to make other's fun. For me it is useful. Don't know some basic webmaster ask me about PR if i want to link exchange.
Don't get so hung up on PR. Focus on delivery quality content and doing traditional online promotion and, with time, PR will just fall into place.
having good rankings in major SEs is more important than having a high PR. so never worry, focus on keyword targeting.
PR is a one of many tools one can use to judge website performance. Recently too many webmasters have been treating this like god, so imagine big G is mixing things up as they usually do to keep everyone on their toes.
Your "test page" does not have the same footer links on it that your homepage does. And those footer links reside on the same IP. I'm not an algorithm, but I can see you are trying to manipulate PR/SERPS by interlinking your Websites. If I can see that, then Google's algorithm probably can as well.
ya content penalties matter a lot and the pages you ignore get high rankings sometime if google sees it's worth it. I had a blog in my opera just 4 fun only made 1 posts n finished but after few months saw it become pr3 but had 1 spammy post only.
